Carla Loney-Tindall and Joe Tindall

Saskatoon couple and long-time donors to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre, Carla Loney-Tindall and Joe Tindall, have made a generous contribution to the Nutrien Plant Possibility campaign, donating $100,000 to the organization’s future home. In addition to their financial contribution, they are also providing volunteer leadership to the campaign, successfully raising significant dollars for the project.

Carla and Joe may have come from humble beginnings, but their commitment to giving back to their community is anything but small. From their early years in rural Alberta to their successful careers and active lifestyles, Carla and Joe have never forgotten the importance of supporting those in need.

Joe’s career in agriculture business took them from Edmonton to Red Deer, Spokane, and eventually Saskatoon where their two children, Corbin and Alexis, were raised. The family thrived here spending time gardening, playing sports, and enjoying time at the lake. Carla studied psych nursing and later received a Bachelor of Commerce at the U of S Her career was devoted to helping people and causes within the charitable sector, mainly The Children’s Wish Foundation (now Make A Wish). Their kids followed in Joe’s footsteps pursuing education and careers in agriculture and now have families of their own. Carla & Joe are proud grandparents to Hazel (Corbin & Kristen) and Asher, Adalie, and Vesper (Alexis & Levi).

The couple's philanthropic journey began with a focus on supporting youth, homelessness, and hunger, issues that hit close to home for them. They recognize that these problems are complex and interconnected, but they have been dedicated to doing their part to make a difference. They support organizations like The Bridge, The Princess Shop, Wonderhub, YWCA Saskatoon, and the Red Cross, and have been especially drawn to initiatives that provide food security and education to those in need.

Their recent $100,000 donation to the Nutrien Plant Possibility campaign is a testament to their ongoing commitment to giving back. The couple was motivated after touring the food bank and learning about the scope and impact of the work the organization undertakes to address the underlying causes of poverty and food insecurity. Carla and Joe recognize the importance of healthy, nourishing food and the impact it can have on physical and mental health, education outcomes, and overall well-being.

Carla and Joe's advice to others who want to get involved in philanthropy is simple: “Every effort counts. We encourage everyone to do what they can, no matter the amount as collectively we can make a difference.”

Their commitment to giving back to their community is an inspiration, and their donation to the Nutrien Plant Possibility campaign will help to support a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
