THE FOOD BANK PROGRAM
The Food Bank Program provides hampers with enough groceries to last two to three days for anyone living in Saskatoon and the surrounding area (within a 50 km radius). Each household can receive up to two hampers per month.
Hampers often include items such as pasta, cereal, pasta sauce, peanut butter, frozen meat, bread, and coffee or tea. These basics help households prepare simple, nutritious meals.
Special diets are respected. If someone in your household has allergies, follows a vegetarian or halal or gluten free diet, or has other dietary needs, staff will do their best to accommodate.
There are no restrictions on who can request a hamper. To pick one up, bring identification for each family member and a document that shows you live in Saskatoon or the surrounding area, such as a bill, letter, or rent receipt. If providing ID is a challenge, please let staff know—accommodations can be made.
Hamper Pick-up
Hampers are picked up in the Food Bank Program area, the door is located at the side of our building along 21st St.
milk for children
Children and growing families need nourishing food. The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre provides one litre of fresh milk for every child under 18, as well as for pregnant and nursing women. This program helps ensure children get the nutrition they need to stay healthy. Because milk is one of the biggest costs for the Food Bank, fundraisers and financial donations play a key role in keeping this support available year-round.
Infant Nutrition
Families with infants can also access extra support. Infant formula, baby food, and cereals are available for children under one year of age, and one litre of fresh milk is provided to pregnant and nursing women at every visit. While specific formula brands cannot always be guaranteed, staff do their best to meet each family’s needs.
Breastfeeding is also supported as a safe and nutritious option for infants. For more information, families can contact the Saskatoon Breastfeeding Centre at 306-655-4806 or visit the Saskatchewan Health Authority website.
Additional essentials like diapers, baby wipes, and children’s clothing can be found at the Clothing Depot, offering further support for families with young children.
