VOLUNTEER AWARDS 2023
Each year, the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre (SFBLC) recognizes 1-5 volunteers or non-corporate volunteer groups who go above and beyond in their efforts to strengthen our community.
2023 Outstanding Volunteer AWARD
The Outstanding Volunteer Award recognizes an individual or group that enhances the culture of the SFBLC through their energy, welcoming actions, and good heart. The recipient of this award demonstrates their love for the community in a number of ways, including involvement in one or more SFBLC programs and exemplifying the SFBLC core values of respect, innovation, compassion, and collaboration.
Robert “BOB” Stone – Income Tax Program Volunteer
Each year, the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre (SFBLC) recognizes 1-5 volunteers or non-corporate volunteer groups who go above and beyond in their efforts to strengthen our community. These efforts are significant and notable and include the following:
Considerations:
· In recognition of a volunteer or group’s commitment to community
· Displays dedication and commitment to one or more SFBLC programs
· Exemplifies core values of respect, innovation, compassion, and collaboration
· Has made a significant impact to the SFBLC
· Fosters positive relationships with others
Criteria:
· Must be a contributing in a volunteer capacity
· Must have volunteered consistently for more than one year or program cycle
· May include committee and board members
· Does not include individuals participating on behalf of corporate entities
· May be awarded to a non-corporate group
2023 SPIRIT OF THE COMMUNITY AWARD
The Spirit of the Community Award recognizes an individual or group that enhances the culture of the SFBLC through their energy, welcoming actions, and good heart. The recipient of this award demonstrates their love for the community in a number of ways, including involvement in one or more SFBLC programs and exemplifying the SFBLC core values of respect, innovation, compassion, and collaboration.
BRUNNERS CONSTRUCTION
Brunners Construction has been very intentional about how to get involved with the community, which includes volunteering with the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre consistently every other week. This group demonstrates our shared value of respecting community members by emphasizing and prioritizing the need for all group members to learn about the issues faced by community members (like the causes of food insecurity and their role and volunteers). In addition, they have taken the responsibility to continue raising awareness in their other activities and engagements as a club to further our mission and values. We appreciate the pride they share in calling themselves volunteers of the SFBLC and their commitment to support our mission with their time.
2023 YOUTH LEADERSHIP in action AWARD
Each year, the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre recognizes one school or youth organization that harnesses the power of youth engagement to advance food security in our community.
Rachelle Keln- Halloween 4 Hunger Food Drive – Bishop James Mahoney
Rachelle Keln, Halloween 4 Hunger, consistently shown interest in how we serve the community. She has put a considerable amount of time and effort to learn about food security by committing to a variety of volunteer tasks and emphasizing that youth can take action and have an impact in the community. Rachelle also consistently supports the volunteer program, as well as our initiatives to raise awareness about the needs in the community and built an appreciation for volunteerism among their fellow students.

Each year, the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre (SFBLC) recognizes one corporation that exemplifies the spirit and intention of Corporate Social Responsibility
Yardi
Yardi has put a significant amount of time and effort towards supporting our volunteer program every year. They put emphasis on the importance of engaging with the community through multiple ways, including growing the culture of volunteerism and valuing its power for organizations like the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre. Yardi employees have shown commitment to supporting us as an organization and as individuals in their own time to donate, volunteer, and share their knowledge with our teams.
