CITY-WIDE FOOD DRIVE
Every year in May, the SFBLC holds a City-Wide Food Drive to raise awareness and food during a time when donations are traditionally low. Typically, volunteers and staff canvas door to door to pick up donations left in pre-delivered grocery bags. In 2020 and 2021, the City-Wide Food Drive went digital and took place in the form of a month-long virtual food drive called the Community Click & Pick-nic.
This year, the City-Wide Food Drive is back with a twist! You can donate two ways: Purchase a few extra items or a pre-made food donation bag to place in collection bins in grocery stores across the city. Or donate funds online on our website.
MILK MONTH
Each year in September, we raise awareness and funds to support our Milk for Children Program. Last year, this program provided 68,363 litres of fresh milk to children as well as pregnant and nursing women to help ensure they are receiving adequate nutrition during the critical periods of childhood development.
HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN
Every year from mid-November to mid-January, we host a major food and fundraising campaign to ensure that no one goes hungry during the holidays. Our Holiday campaign is also supported through a variety of food and fundraisers hosted by members of the community.
